Xavier showed that they were for real, but they just came up a hair short against mighty Duke. There will be no Cinderella this year. Although Duke is the only #1 seed to make it, the lowest-rated team in the final four, Georgia Tech, was a third seed. The final four: Duke (1) vs Conn (2), Georgia Tech (3) against Oklahoma St (2)

Three clips from Envy. "Ben Stiller and Jack Black star as Tim and Nick, best friends, neighbors and co-workers, whose equal footing is suddenly tripped up when one of Nick's harebrained get-rich-quick schemes actually succeeds: Vapoorizer, a spray that literally makes dog poop, or any other kind for that matter, evaporate into thin air -- to where exactly is anyone's guess. Tim, who had scoffed at Nick's idea and passed on an opportunity to get in on the deal, can only watch as Nick's fortune -- and Tim's own envy -- grow to equally outrageous proportions. When the flames of jealousy are fanned by an oddball drifter (Walken) who imposes himself into the situation, Tim's life careens wildly out of control ... taking Nick's with it."

"Latvia will be destroyed" : Russia's official state nutbag, the incredibly insane Vladimir Zhirinovsky, said, "Latvia will be destroyed. Empty space will be there. Absolutely nothing will remain from Latvia. Everybody will forget the words 'Latvia' and 'the Latvian language'. There will be nothing in Latvia, forever. We will destroy everything. If you touch Russians and Russian schools. I assure you. Nothing will remain'."

"a 'pretty reliable source' says that Orlando Bloom is at the top of the list of names to take over the role of James Bond whenever Pierce Brosnan is done with it." Good enough. I think we've had just about enough of those mature, heterosexual Bonds.

Wacky California police raid a house with high electricity bills. They obtained a search warrant because the family was paying as much as $300 a month for electricity. (In Texas, they'd have to raid every house in summertime!) "They also noticed the family had put its trash out that morning, something police say drug growers often do to hide the evidence. In the Dagys' case, however, it was merely trash day." Whoa, that WAS suspicious! I'm not going to let Elya read this article. She'll never take the trash out again.

Here's one for your economics class: When an increase in demand decreases sales. Sotheby's and Christie's, both say their art sales totals are down, despite a rapid increase in the number of millionaires who want to buy art. The problem is that the demand is for works by recognized names, and those dead guys can't come back to create any more paintings.

"The swiftness and ferocity of the Bush White House's attack on Richard Clarke tells you two things: his story may be largely true, and the Bush administration is terrified that the American people will believe it."

GHOST TOWN. The astounding story of a woman whose hobby is to ride through the Chernobyl area on her bike, visiting and photographing villages (and even a small city) which have been completely abandoned and are preserved exactly as they were in 1986. A must-see site.
