The TV spot and trailer for Napoleon Dynamite: "From Preston, Idaho comes Napoleon Dynamite, a new kind of hero complete with a tight red 'fro, some choice moon boots, and skills that can't be topped. Napoleon spends his days drawing mythical beasts, duking it out with his 32-year-old brother Kip and avoiding his Uncle Rico, a door-to-door salesman who's mentally stuck in 1982 - the year his football team 'almost won state.' But when two new friends are brought into his life - Deb, the artisan behind the 'boondoggle key chain,' and Pedro with his sweet bike and talent with the chicks - Napoleon finds goals outside of being a star milk-tasting judge. Together the trio launches a campaign to elect Pedro for class president and make the student body's wildest dreams come true. But if Pedro is to beat stuck-up Summer, Napoleon will have to unleash his secret weapon... "

The trailer from Dear Frankie : "Nine-year-old Frankie and his single mum Lizzie have been on the move ever since Frankie can remember, most recently arriving in a seaside Scottish town. Wanting to protect her deaf son from the truth that they've run away from his father, Lizzie has invented a story that he is away at sea on the HMS Accra. Every few weeks, Lizzie writes Frankie a make-believe letter from his father, telling of his adventures in exotic lands. As Frankie tracks the ship's progress around the globe, he discovers that it is due to dock in his hometown. With the real HMS Accra arriving in only a fortnight, Lizzie must choose between telling Frankie the truth or finding the perfect stranger to play Frankie's father for just one day."

The trailer for Grand Theft Parsons : "It's inspired by the true story that marked the end of the life of cult musician Gram Parsons, and will hopefully go some way to bringing the legacy of Parsons' music to a whole new generation. The film centers around Phil Kaufman (Knoxville), road manager to Gram Parsons, who stole his friend's body and drove it to Joshua Tree National Park. Remaining faithful to a pact they had made two months previously, he gave Parsons the last rites he'd requested - a cremation in the desert he'd loved." Stars Johnny Knoxville.

Movie piracy supports terrorism. Because if you can see Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights on a bootleg copy - well, then the terrorists have won.

Bardot Convicted of Inciting Racial Hatred. Two interesting things to note here: (1) The French legal system has no concept of freedom of speech, as North Americans understand it. If they don't agree with your opinion, they simply call your opinion "hate speech", and make it a crime. I guess there is no FCLU. Bardot was convicted for "portraying Muslims in a negative light". Oh, no, not the dreaded negative light! I guess they don't run a lot of Seinfeld in France, eh? Do you think Hannity, Limbaugh, or Coulter would be able to do their shows in France? (2) But the good news is that they don't take these crimes all that seriously, based on the size of the punishment. The price for "inciting racial hatred" in France? A very reasonable and affordable $6000. Racial hatred is an excellent value for your entertainment dollar.

This week's movies: Garfield - 15% positive reviews. How bad a week is it? With exactly ONE positive review from a major reviewer, Garfield is the BEST of the three new releases. The other two have a goose egg so far from the "cream of the crop".
