Valedictorian who ripped her school is denied a diploma. Because, by God, what kind of country would this be if our schools taught our children to tell the truth? Hey, you're laughing, but think about it - where would our lawyers and politicians come from?

The trailer for Mar Adentro : "The real-life story of Spaniard Ramon Sampedro, who fought a 30 year campaign in favor of euthanasia and his own right to die." And it's a lowbrow comedy from the writers of Eurotrip! OK, maybe not. It's written and directed by Amenabar, the talented Chilean who did Abre Los Ojos and The Others, who is not known for his lowbrow comedies.

It's a pity that Amenabar didnt take the time and effort to interview Ramon's family members to be able to depict the truth about this couragous man's life - I can say this as I am a relative and the film has a number of mistruths, which unfortunately depict the family in a poorer light. It's obvious that Amenabar has relied greatly on input from Ramona (or Rosa as she is called in the film) - someone who barely knew him!

The trailer for Steamboy: "A retro, Japanese anime science-fiction epic set in Victorian England, 'Steamboy' features an inventor prodigy named Ra Stim who receives a mysterious metal ball containing a new form of energy capable of powering an entire nation. This young boy must use it to fight evil, redeem his family, and save London from destruction. The lush Victorian interiors and the elegance of the era's mechanical design allows Otomo to create dazzling visual backgrounds and machines for this film. With more than 180,000 drawing and 400 CG cuts, 'Steamboy' is sure to be one of the most elaborate animated features of 2004."

Holy moley! Fahrenheit 9/11 was the top movie on Friday, despite being on a mere 868 screens (!!!). It is a true phenomenon. It took in $9,447 per screen, compared to $2,480 for the next best film!
