Nomar changes curses. He will now get to play for perennially losing Cubs teams instead of perennially losing Red Sox teams. The Cubs had to surrender Alex Gonzales and three prospects, but now have the best hitting shortstop in the National League.

ZOGBY: The Race Is On: An Analysis of the Post-Convention Zogby Poll. At this point, the most significant statistic is this: Gore beat Bush by only 2 points among voters 18-29, but Kerry leads Bush 53 to 33 in this demographic, a situation which, if unchecked, could spell disaster for the President if the voters that age get to the polls in significant numbers.

URL says way too much: Clowning4Christ.com.
  • "We are a Christ-centered, Bible-believing ministry and our goal is to spread the gospel through our unique clown performances in the foreign missions as well as in local churches here in the United States. In addition to our performances, we also teach professional clowning to all Christian clowns - as well as secular clowns."
  • I didn't know that secular clowns still existed, but the only ones that can make me laugh are the Buddhist clowns. I love when they set each other on fire to protest war, then douse the fire with seltzer bottles.
  • Of course, I also like when the Christian clowns turn the seltzer water into sparkling wine!

The Village opens with a $20 million Friday.
  • That's about what the pundits predicted.
  • Other new flicks: Manchurian Candidate six million (third place), Kumar two million (sixth place), Thunderbirds one million (tenth place). Kumar underperformed relative to expectations, despite generally excellent reviews.

Shrek 2 passes The Phantom Menace to reach #4 of all time (domestic), It will pass E.T. for the #3 spot, but will probably finish there, behind Star Wars and Titanic.
