Film Weekend - new films all exceed Box Office Mojo's expectations. The other interesting story is that The Bourne Supremacy passed The Village, which beat it last week, for second place among the carry-overs, so Bourne continues to kick some serious butt at the Box.

Colorado makes it a clean sweep in drunkenness awards. Last week, the University of Colorado was chosen as the biggest party school. This week, Denver was named as the drunkest big city in America. Because, you know, when those kids graduate, they don't stop partying.

Here's your baseball SAT question.
  • Your team finishes eleven games behind the Yankees. You pony up $20 million per year to acquire Pujols to replace your Triple-A first baseman. Assuming neither you or the Yankees make any other personnal moves, assuming everyone performs at the same level next year, assuming $120 per bottle, and basing your estimate on a roster of 40 players and coaches, how much additional cash should you set aside for victory champagne?
  • Put your pencil away. You don't really need to know any math if you know your baseball. The answer is zero. The Yankees will kick your ass again.

U.S. Sen. Tom Harkin called Vice President Dick Cheney a 'coward' for avoiding service in Vietnam and said Bush should return to the military.
  • A coward? You don't think it takes guts to live in an undisclosed location? Why, Mil Mascaras came from parts unknown, and he had plenty of guts, let me tell you. Say, maybe Cheney is Mil Mascaras.
  • I used to work as a partially masked wrestler. I hailed from parts unknown, but with a summer house in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin.

I love how the reservist & nat'l guardmen will take the cash & benefits of being enlisted but whine like babies when they actually have to earn those $'s.

Same thing during Gulf War 1.

Hong Kong police arrested 115 men for illegally gambling on insect fights on Sunday in the same building that housed a cricket lovers' association.
  • It's like Eve in Eden. It would be perfectly legal to bet on insect fights in any other building, but no-o-o-o-o, they have to go and take on the all-powerful cricket-lovers lobby.
  • Police seized a small amount of money and 300 crickets with a street value of $2.15.
  • I wasn't kidding about the small amount of money. The 115 guys had $1025 between them, averaging a whopping nine bucks each. It's a big-time arrest for Hong Kong law enforcement.

Paris Hilton is bracing herself for a second sex video scandal. According to News of the World, she has told her gal-pals that stills and clips of her bonking ex-lover Nick Carter, the former Backstreet Boy, were on a laptop that vanished in the recent break-in at her Hollywood home. Also mentioned in this article: (1) The burglar netted "hundreds of thousands" in "cash and jewellery". I guess a gal has to keep a little mad money around the house for late-night snacks and stuff. (2) The burglar actually entered with a key and tried to create signs of forced entry.

Who will follow Craig Kilbourn in the hot seat? There are some surprises in the contenders. At least I was surprised. I didn't even know Pat Harrington Jr. was still alive.

Alien vs Predator takes in $16.7 million on Friday. That has to be a nice surprise for investors. Rotten Tomatoes is showing that only 13% of the reviews have been positive, and Box Office Mojo's forecast was $29 million for the entire weekend.

The trailer for Going the Distance: "Now that he and his friends are finished high school, Nick expects to spend his first summer of freedom hanging out with his best friends on Tofino beach and loving his best girl, Trish. But when Trish suddenly moves to Toronto to follow her career ambitions, Nick figures that the only way he'll keep her is to marry her. First, he has to get to Toronto and Trish, before her sleazy boss has his way. Forget flying: Nick's best buddies Tyler and Dime tag along, and their journey will follow the scenic route - from Tofino to Toronto in Nick's busted-up RV. And when the guys pick up a couple of cute hitchhiker chicks, Nick's cross-country quest for love gets a whole lot more interesting"

The trailer for Go Further.: "'Go Further,' the new film by award-winning documentary filmmaker Ron Mann, explores the idea that the single individual is the key to large-scale transformational change. The film follows actor Woody Harrelson as he takes a small group of friends on a bio-fuelled bus-ride down the Pacific Coast Highway. Their goal? To show the people they encounter that there are viable alternatives to our habitual, environmentally-destructive behaviors. The travellers include a yoga-teacher, a raw food chef, a hemp-activist, a junk-food addict, and a college student who suspends her life to impulsively hop aboard. We see the hostility these pilgrims encounter, and watch as their ideas are challenged from within and without. We meet an entrepreneur who runs a paper company that does not harm trees; an organic farmer who believes Nature is his partner; a man who teaches environmental activists to use humor as a strategic weapon. And throughout, we see Harrelson test his belief that the transformation of our planet begins with the small personal transformations that are within the grasp of each and every one of us, after which we'll go further."
