'She is the most powerful woman in the history of the universe', and yet Jenna Jameson is so down-to-earth. Wait, this isn't about Jenna.

Controversy deepened yesterday about the decision to allow a new film depicting real sex to be screened uncut in British cinemas. The film is "9 Songs" by British director Michael Winterbottom. It was passed for distribution without cuts to scenes showing authentic acts of penetration, masturbation and oral sex. All in all, it features 35 minutes of unsimulated sex.
  • The director agreed the film was the most sexually explicit to be made in mainstream British cinema, but added: "There's not an awful lot of competition". Amen to that.

The incredibly pretentious and unbearably loud trailer for Phantom of the Opera. Joel Schumacher directing an Andrew Lloyd Webber musical? That might set a standard for "shallow, broad, and obvious" that may never again be duplicated unless scientists find a way to bring Otto Preminger back from the dead.

You think your local candidates are nutcases? Robb Finberg, the Republican candidate for Hawaiian state Senate in the Maui district, saying on a television interview that he'd support execution as a legal penalty for homosexual activity. Finberg also talks about the precise age of the earth: 6000 years.

Ashlee Simpson offers a truly bizarre explanation for the SNL debacle. . Her band "started playing the wrong song." Ah, the super-powwered minds of those Simpson girls. As the article says, "That explains the cringe-worthy jig but not how the band could possibly be responsible for the mystery vocals."

Ben Affleck's behavior raises eyebrows. Affleck's recent interviews have shown that will answer questions with honest, candid responses. He is unguarded. Sometimes he is cruel, cynical, and offensive. Sometimes he uses certain phrases and expressions more often heard from sailors in Manila strip clubs or Dick Cheney on the Senate floor. In short, Big Ben has decided to be himself, say what he really feels, and not worry about his manufactured image. Needless to say, I am really starting to like this guy.

As soon as Trey Parker and Matt Stone finish the next run of 'South Park' episodes, they will wage a full blown legal war on the MPAA. I like these guys more every day. Now if Howard Stern would join them, they might mobilize the world.

Film clips and a trailer for Swades. Set in modern day India, Swades is a film that tackles the issues that development throws up on a grass root level. It is to this India, which is colorful, heterogeneous and complex that a bright young scientist working as a project manager in NASA, returns to on a quest to find his childhood nanny. The film uses the contrast between the highly developed world of NASA, which has been at the forefront of advances in space research, and this world back home in India, which is at the crossroads of development. Mohan's simple quest becomes the journey that every one of us goes through in search of that metaphysical and elusive place called "home".

Electoral-Vote.com is now showing it 285-247 Bush. The exact same results are also appearing at Hear The Issues. The changes: Hawaii to Bush. Arkansas to undecided. Colorado to Kerry. Ohio and Florida to Bush. If the President really can win in both Ohio and Florida, he should be able to hold on to the country.
