10 things we didn't know this time last week. My favorite was #3: Salvador Dali once exposed himself to journalist Ann Leslie, after asking her if she would like to see "the Divine Dali." There's no indication that she responded "Hello, Dali."

One of the most famous headlines in baseball history is "X-Ray of Dizzy Dean's Skull Shows Nothing." In that spirit - Examination of Dick Cheney's heart finds nothing.

The Last Action President? The Prezinator? Californians will soon see advertisements urging them to help give Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger the chance to run for President. The cable television ads, set to being running Monday, are from a Silicon Valley-based group that wants to amend the U.S. Constitution to allow foreign-born Americans to hold the big job. Wasn't this amendment and a Schwarzenegger Presidency mentioned in Demolition Man?

It's the cities, stupid! The real map of red and blue America looks quite different from our familiar electoral map. America is not really a blue Northeast and Far West separated by an ocean of red. It is a bunch of blue islands called cities, surrounded by a bunch of red suburbs and countryside. The Democratic party is the party of the cities. Even New York and California appear to be mostly red states if you color the counties. See the link immediately below for a better map.

A news photographer's once-in-a-lifetime opportunity - an explosion and fire in a fireworks factory. This fire lasted about 2½ days, destroyed eight houses completely, and ruined many others. One fireman lost his life in the operation. The explosion was so big that it registered on seismology equipment in Copenhagen, which is a couple hundred miles away. There are 17 pictures here. NOVA | Great Escape | PBS - The Companion Website. The real Great Escape didn't feature Steve McQueen racing through the Third Reich on a motorcycle as in the 1963 movie, but the big breakout was still thrilling in every way. This NOVA episode sheds new light on the audacious escape of 76 Allied airmen from a Nazi POW camp during World War II. Sixty years after the event, NOVA follows a team of archeologists accompanied by several Great Escape veterans as they search the site of Stalag Luft III for new evidence of the clandestine operation, which involved 600 prisoners digging three highly sophisticated tunnels, code-named Tom, Dick, and Harry. Each tunnel was made with railways, electric lights, and underground air pumps-all under the noses of German guards. (The TV show will be aired on PBS on Tuesday the 16th.)

The dedication of Bill Clinton's presidential library next week will feature appearances on both ends of the political spectrum -- including President Bush. President Bush said he tried to make a bi-partisan effort to reach out and read some of Clinton's books, but the political ones used too many big words, and the rest of them had a lot of pages stuck together.

The first-ever trailer for Scorsese's Howard Hughes biopic, The Aviator. Impressive. Incredibly economical storyboarding in the trailer, as you'd expect from a Scorsese project. Manages to cover a tremendous amount of material in a short time.
