I'm not sure how much I can add to make these words more perfect: "Clutch Cargo: The Complete Series." Surely that phrase is the divine purpose for the invention of the English language.

Seniors go punk.
  • "SENIOR CITIZENS are throwing off their granny glasses, shawls and plaid Bermuda shorts, and exchanging them for tattoos, nose rings, and spiked hairdos. In other words, they're going punk!"

Seals commit suicide.
  • New Zealand researchers have found a bizarre seal suicide site in Antarctica, where dozens of seals have inexplicably left the ocean, travelled 30km inland and gone over a bluff to their deaths.
  • I think the fact that seals and Swedes both have high suicide rates should lead scientists to see what they have in common. My conclusion: suicide is caused by cold temperatures, prolonged exposure to darkness, a fish-based diet, and speech that sounds like barking noises.

People with certain first names make more money.
  • All the most productive names are the sturdy, old-fashioned "apostle and king names."
  • People reach their peak earning years in their 50s, so this list tends to reflect the names of baby boomers, but not so much their children's names. It tracks quite closely to the most popular baby names circa 1950.
  • NOTE: the "richest" list is from the UK, the "most popular" list from the USA.

What wasn't taken into account is that older people tend to have more traditional names, and older people tend to have more money than younger people, by default people with traditional names will have more money. In fifty years, we will likely see today's common names in the list.

On a related note, there was a story linked some days ago that listed those names which were most likely to make insurance claims. I think that is a case of demographics and fashion combining. For example, "Russell" was a fairly common name for a brief period several decades ago. Those people are now getting to an age where they are developing chronic health problems and as a result are making more insurance claims. Those with popular or traditional names tend to have their statistics merged across several generations, diluting any age-related problems.

No, not at the time pictured in the image (you can see the links to sign up or log in).

It was free at an earlier time, but the web archive doesn't go back far enough.

It stopped being free in July of 1997 - for good reason. At that time I had $3000 in monthly bandwidth costs and $100 in monthly advertising revenue!!

Yeah I remember waayy back when, when the archive was open. And then when you went to adultcheck, then a fair priced subsciption, then......in all fairness Scoopy, the site rocks.

I've been reading daily for almost 5 years now. And have subscibed a time or two, and been visiting (semi-regularly) since round about 96-97.

My friend is always astonished by how much I know about films and celeb nudity. I owe some (but not all) to you and Craig Hosada (The Bare Facts) and alot to my older Brother (particularly his video collection) but I always enjoy reading, finding new tidbits I never knew before and getting a chuckle out of what you've managed to dredge up from the depths of the movie abyss.

I tip my hat to you for all those movies you've watched (that I'll never be brave enough too do so) for the sake of any revealing parts the actress might have shown. Thanks.

This is an excellent review, which concludes: "Fantastic Four joins the ranks of Catwoman and Elektra, falls below even the likes of Batman and Robin and The Punisher and all involved should be ashamed of actually inviting comparisons to the shelved Roger Corman adaptation."
