Three words: Lestat, the Musical
  • The author, Linda Woolverton, says, "It's a metaphor for the human condition." Yes! I love those! Especially when they have vampires and toe-tapping dance numbers.
  • Sounds like Woolverton needs to come down from her ... um ... mountain.
  • Which critic will get to be the first to write "Lestat sucks"?

A mixed weekend for the wild cat population. Panthers win, Jaguars and Bengals eliminated.
  • The other two teams eliminated were the Bucs and Giants. The Giants were pathetic: no points, 91 yards passing (with three interceptions), 41 yards rushing, one for seven on third down conversions ... AT HOME, where they went 7-1 in the regular season!

Cow escapes meat plant, dodges SUV, train
  • "A cow that escaped a slaughterhouse dodged vehicles, ran in front of a train, braved the icy Missouri River and took three tranquilizer darts before being recaptured six hours later."
  • Oh, wait! That wasn't a cow. It was Mickey Rourke

Weekend Box Office Results, January 6-8, 2006
  • Hostel kicked some serious butt, with a $20 million opening.
  • BloodRayne opened in 19th place!! (The Weekend Warrior's prediction was based on the earlier assumption that BloodRayne would hit 2000 theaters.)
  • Grandma's Boy also bombed, opening in 13th, with an "average per screen" comparable to BloodRayne, but on twice as many screens.
  • Narnia grabbed a decisive hold on second
  • Third may go either to Kong or Dick and Jane, depending on the accuracy of the estimates.
  • Woody's new movie did quite well in arthouse distribution - 300 screens. It pulled in about the same average per screen as Hostel
  • The year is off to a good start. The weekend was up 9% over the comparable weekend last year.

  • I have this one high on my list of must-see vids, just beneath the Carrot Top sex tape.
