In Defense of: Obsessive internet fanboys
"Before the internet, geeky collectors of kitsch and useless information were relegated to underground freak status and this was detrimental to us all. For instance, let's say it's 20 years ago and for or some reason (drugs) you got a hankering for some information about the appropriately named 1983 TV show Manimal (about a man who could turn into animals). Where could you go? There's a chance that one of your neighbors might be a closet Manimal freak with a room full of pictures, videotapes, and quite possibly the head of Michael D. Roberts (who played Manimal's sassy friend Ty), but the odds are slim."

An art collector has paid about $2.3 million for a $1,000 bill printed in 1890
The photo shows the face and back of a $1000 bill that is one of only two known of its kind. You have to really be a trivia expert to know whose face appears on this one. It is Major General George G. Meade, who commanded the entire Union Army at Gettysburg. Meade was a classic late developer. He graduated from West Point in 1835, but by the time the Civil War broke out in 1861 he had only made it to captain. He didn't even make first lieutenant until 1856, fourteen years after he re-enlisted as a second lieutenant, having been content to toil away for year after year as a low-profile engineer! Only two years after the Civil War broke out, the engineer was a general, locked in a life-and-death struggle on his native Pennsylvania soil against, and ultimately defeating, Robert E. Lee.

Daily Box Office for Friday, December 15, 2006
Eragon and The Pursuit of Happyness opened at or above expectations, but Charlotte's Web had a very slow start. Kiddie movies don't do as well on Friday as during the weekend, but this one was extraordinarily low - only three and a half million in about 3500 theaters - less per screen than The Holiday and about the same as Blood Diamond.

The Ten Most Dangerous Toys of All-Time
"Removable parts? Suffocation risk? Lead paint? Pussy hazards compared to the granddaddy of them all. Lawn Darts, or 'Jarts,' as they were marketed, would never fly in our current ultra-paranoid, safety-helmeted, Dr. Phil toy culture. "

Mary Carey pulls a Britney
But then again, it doesn't seem all that shocking to look at a porn star's crotch, even if she is a former gubernatorial candidate. Now that I think about it, she should have done this while she was running. It always worked for Pat Paulsen.

The Guest House is a free, abbreviated version of the Fun House, with content hosted by Rapidshare. Today's edition features lots of clips and captures of Uschi Digard (and others) from two 1970s exploitation classics, Below the Belt and Russ Meyer's Supervixens. There are also seven clips from the controversial Shortbus, a clip of Bai Ling in Edmond, and Flautista's "first look" at the teen sex comedy "Surf School," which features nudity from Aubrie Lemon of TV's "Deal or no Deal."

O.J. Simpson's would-be publisher, Judith Regan, was fired Friday
Regan's firing comes less than a month after Murdoch's cancellation of Simpson's hypothetical murder confession, "If I Did It," a planned book and Fox television interview that was greeted with instant and near-universal disgust when announced.

Well, I'm kinda surprised they never caught Santa, but everyone knows you can't catch the gingerbread man.
