Today we salute an "other crappy" Holiday legend:

Based on what I've overheard, Hung must be the most envied man in the world. No matter where you go, you hear guys say, "I wish I was Hung"

Fake Identity Generator
Strangely enough, my new fake identity is "Michael Vick." This is an astounding coincidence because, as you regular readers know, my real name is Ron Mexico.

Real Urban Art
Moscow's officials are aware that their city looks a bit ... er ... let's be charitable and say "gray and institutional." The city has undertaken an experimental campaign to fund and encourage an atmosphere of gaiety by painting the buildings. Some of it is impressive. I have a feeling it won't age well, but right now it looks downright cheerful!

Charlotte Observer says "Investigate the investigation"
"This latest twist leads you to conclude either (a) Mr. Nifong has been misled by an uncertain or unreliable witness; (b) he is incompetent; (c) he skillfully manipulated a case charged with racial and class overtones in an election year where he faced a challenge; or, (d) all of the above.

It's pretty rare when a major newspaper writes that a district attorney is either corrupt or stupid. This guy is humiliating himself at record-setting levels.

Blogs Make Me Puke
"Blogs are very important these days. Oh, so very, very important. There isn't a day that goes by when I don't get some apocalyptic scaremail from Dow Jones management about blogs this, and blogs that, and how we need to be more bloggy, and how "bloggers don't expense $40 lunches" when management knows damn well that was a legitimate business meal for my last column. Why, even Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has one, and were it available in 1938, Hitler himself would have had his own page on MeinKampfSpace. The invention of the Web log, we are told, is as transformative as Gutenberg's press; nay, the phonetic alphabet, maybe even the Cro-Magnons' discovery of fire. "Look Kronk! Og blog! Og blog Gooooood!"

"A federal judge in Texas has ruled that it is unlawful to provide a hyperlink to a Webcast if the copyright owner objects to it."
This case does not belong in court. It is a simple matter to block access to any part of a website. One may even block links from a specific referring site and redirect them to a sign-up page, or to an advertising page. Unfortunately, the defendant did not choose to point out that one may only link successfully to those portions of websites deliberately left unprotected by the site layout, and that a lack of protection is basically an open invitation to a link. Instead, the guy refused to hire a lawyer and chose to defend himself. He just went to court and ranted about freedom. Dipshit.

Dick Cheney gets a raise
A fitting reward for a job well done! Darth Cheney sure disproved the hell out of that Peter Principle didn't he? Being completely incompetent at every possible human endeavor never slowed him down for a minute. He just kept rising. Ain't politics wonderful?
