Today: an obscure "other crappy legend:" Malinska

Their "tourist bureau" says, "Malinska is the second-largest tourist destination on the western coast of the island of Krk." So for those of you who are planning your next vacation on vowel-free islands, if you are forced to go to the western coast of Krk because of the infamous overbooking on the eastern side, this is a great second choice! Ask for Janko.

I wonder how many tourists it would take to get them to the #1 spot.

Here's that Silver Surfer trailer in High Definition.
It looks pretty cool. Fantastic Four was my favorite comic when I was a kid, but I have just about despaired of ever seeing a good interpretation. I'm crossing my fingers. In the comic series, the Surfer/Galactus appearance was philosophical and complicated. I hope it doesn't become a jokey action movie.

The biggest entertainment bombs of the year
It was a great year for big failures like The Wicker Man and All the King's Men, tbut the champ of them all, based on figures cited in the Variety article, was "Basic Instinct 2," a $70 million film that earned $5 million domestically, and continued actress Sharon Stone's unbroken 11-year string of bombs.

RIP - Frank Stanton - television's REAL inventor
Oh, he didn't know anything about vacuum tubes and iconoscopes, but he's the guy who made television into a news and entertainment medium. He was president of CBS from 1946 to 1971, the period when television supplanted film as the world's most popular visual medium
