Is Britney's record label thinking of dumping her?
"Jive fears she's alienating her fan base. Their fan base. Jive caters to a young music-buyer, and the continued atmosphere - drinking, bingeing, partying, whatevering, photos with no panties for a mother of two infants - is hitting sour notes. Besides, Jive is not in sync with the five tracks Brit delivered. Conversation in their offices is: If we bear the expense of a redo, is it possible that, down the road, because of the way she's going, we could end up with a really bad product? Or one that won't sell? The recording has stopped midway. Nothing more's been done because the company doesn't yet know what it wants to do. "

French protest the passage of time
Their signs said "No to 2007" and "Now is better."

"The marchers called on governments and the UN to stop time's "mad race" and declare a moratorium on the future. The tension mounted as the minutes ticked away towards midnight - but the arrival of 2007 did nothing to dampen their enthusiasm. The protesters began to chant: "No to 2008!"

Robert L. Nardelli, the chief executive of Home Depot, who came under heavy criticism for his pay package and failure to lift the chain's stagnant stock price, has abruptly resigned, the company said today.
Here's why I linked to the story: "He will receive about $210 million in compensation from the company"

I'd like to land a job where I get $210 million for totally sucking and resigning under pressure. Hell, I would have been perfectly happy to take $10 million for totally sucking! Home Depot may have a crooked board in more than one sense .

La Bamba, Little Richard, Johnny B Goode - what else do you need? On a sad note, Richie Valens would be dead only 5 weeks after his star-making 1958 year.
