Gen X sheds a tear for the death of the arcade
I can understand how they feel. I don't miss arcades, but I 'm from a different generation. I get sad when I see a baseball field or a drive-in theater overgrown with weeds. The arcade is to Gen-X as the drive-in is to baby boomers. Let's see. Video killed the radio star. VHS killed the drive-in star. PC's and internet killed the arcade star. As home computer units caught up with arcade games, and then passed them with the help of the internet, the arcade industry had nothing left but the attitude and the nostalgia - not enough to sustain anywhere near its former level of income. The arcade revenues in 2004 are about a third what they were in 1994.

Weekend Box Office Results for February 2-4, 2007
No major surprises of any kind. Not even many minor ones. The Jennifer Garner flick dropped 65% from last week to finish well below expectations, but everything else was business as usual.

The weekend was about 10% below last year, marking the third consecutive week of double-digit declines. That's no surprise when you see that the top seven films on the list are all below 50% at Rotten Tomatoes, and six of the seven are stinkers below 30%! The only good ones are carry-overs. The releases from he past five weeks don't even include any mediocre ones - they are all stinkers. Among the films with more than 30% positive reviews, there is not a single one which which has been released in January or February. In terms of the quality of the product, this may have been the worst five weeks in history. Viewed from that perspective, moviegoers have been remarkably patient if the decline is only 10%.

Bush Administration tried to bribe the groundhog
"I was told that a verdict of six more weeks of winter would result in a grant of $10,000 for the town of Punxsutawney and possible front page real estate for Phil on the NOAA Website. They gave me suggestions for how I could artificially create a shadow using a flashlight and my hands, and even gave me a groundhog stencil, so I could spray paint gray shadows around Phil’s hole.
