Berra, Larsen to attend 1st viewing of '56 perfect game
This is a tape of the original broadcast of the last eight innings of the game. (A film once thought lost forever.) It will shown at the Yogi Berra Museum and Learning Center at Montclair State University

Wait. There's a Yogi Berra Learning Center? I suppose there's absolutely no hitting there because you can't do that and think at the same time.

The Weekend Warrior's analysis of this weekend's box office prospects
His prediction: despite a 55% drop, Ghost Rider will hold the top spot against four uninspiring new films.

He expects Jim Carrey's psychological thriller to take the number two spot, with Reno 911 and The Astronaut Farmer in spots four and seven respectively.

ROTTEN TOMATOES: This Week's Movie Openings
General consensus: (1) The Astronaut Farmer (2200 theaters) is quite charming. (2) Reno 911 (2700 theaters) is sporadically hilarious, but also has a lot of dead time (3) The Number 23 (2700) is complete merde - your basic straight-to-vid film, except that Jim Carrey's presence assured it a theatrical release. (4) There are no mainstream reviews for The Abandoned (900 theaters), but the horror film specialty sites pointed most of their thumbs up

"After she shaved off her hair, Britney had a complete breakdown and tried to kill herself," TWICE
Mind you, this is from The Enquirer, but still ...

We're all sitting around watching her self-destruct, laughing about it ... although I'm not sure if there is anything we can do. Somebody close to this girl needs to intervene.

One of the sad things about all this is that she probably would have been much better off if she had held on to that "bogus" marriage to her high school sweetheart.

Finally, the gyroball mystery solved
"I stood behind the empty batting cage to get a better look. Tezuka adjusted his fingers to the correct spots on the four-seam black ball, which he sells for about $25 a set back in Japan. If he threw a gyroball, the only thing I would see was black, because that was the half of the ball that was supposed to spin toward the plate. Black it was, with small flickers of white, because the axis wasn't perfect. Same went for the red two-seam gyroball. Almost all color. 'That's the gyroball,' he said, and it was somewhat anticlimactic, the game's purported great revolution looking in actuality like nothing more than a fastball."

Britney Spears is back in rehab for the third time in seven days.
"We're told the singer is hoping three times is a charm. The emergency custody hearing that Kevin Federline wanted has been cancelled because of the new development. There will be no custody hearing today. Sources tell TMZ Federline is concerned for Spears' welfare and wants her to get the help she is now seeking."

Britney Bags Rehab Again
I would have linked this story earlier, but I thought it was old news. I didn't realize that she did the exact same thing as last week - checked into rehab one day, out the next. Letterman joked that the hospital should have been suspicious when she checked in - because she left the car running!
