The Vatican doesn't like Bob Dylan, but they love Tom Waits
... The skid-row Sinatra once said that reality is just a crutch for people who are too weak to face drugs.

Reader's comment: "The article has it a bit wrong, just because a Jesuit journal says Tom Waits is good doesn't mean the Vatican loves him. As a matter of fact, the Vatican probably hates him even more now that the Jesuits are in his corner. (Jesuits today.) The Vatican censors probably just didn't notice it, since they were too busy looking for gay-loving, abortion-promoting, anti-celibacy-advocating, semi-socialist nonsense from the Jesuits."

Prince Von Anhalt sues Bill O'Reilly for calling him a fraud
In his court documents, filed Wednesday in Los Angeles Superior Court, Von Anhalt claims O'Reilly's "false and/or defamatory" words "directly injure[d] his reputation in a substantial portion of his community."

I would like to see him produce any witnesses from that "substantial portion" who now think less of him after watching O'Reilly's commentary.

Tiny Winthrop University - this year's George Mason?
The Rockefellers kicked it off with a big win over Notre Dame

The Puritans have only lost four games all year, and those to North Carolina, Maryland, Wisconsin and Texas A&M. And they took the Wisconsin Badgers, formerly rated #1, to overtime!

OK, I confess that I have no idea what their sports teams are really called. Based on their logo, I'm going with "Eagles," "Falcons," or "Badly-drawn Christmas Trees." Probably not the latter, because it's too hard to work "Badly-drawn Christmas Trees" into a peppy cheer.

The Babwa-fication of Rock 'n' Roll
The premise is that all aging rock stars look like Barbara Walters, just as all infant rock stars look like Winston Churchill. Thus we have the three ages of man.

Daily Box Office for Friday, March 16, 2007
There is one surprise. Premonition, the Sandra Bullock thriller, finished second. I was expected to finish third, behind Wild Hogs, which it may yet do before the weekend is over, because they are running close together.

So far, the people's reaction to on Chris Rock in a remake of a French art film is unenthusiastic. It took in less than two million on Friday, barely beating Bridge to Terabithia and Ghost Rider, which are both in their fifth weekend.

The Killer (Bulletproof Heart) has been released on a region-free DVD. A rarely-seen 1994 film in which Mimi Rogers shows her enormous chest.

Here is Tuna's review:

Killer (1994), aka Bulletproof Heart, stars Anthony LaPaglia as a burned-out hit man who is nearly forced to do his second hit of the day against his wishes. Seems his usual boss had a thing with a woman who is into him for $650K, and likes her too much to kill her himself.

Now for the real kicker -- she wants to be whacked.

In fact, she has threatened to go to the DA with damaging evidence against him if he doesn't have her hit.

Throw in Peter Boyle as LaPaglia's inept wannabe partner, and the set-up is complete.

The victim ends up being Mimi Rogers who, in exchange for his promise to make her death painless, gives him the screwing of his life. It isn't just sex, as she ties him to the bed, slaps him around, scratches his chest, etc, until he is hard as a rock. This is not something he is used to, and he is grateful. He then discovers that she does indeed want to be killed. The whole concept of a willing victim, especially one he is falling for, is too much for LaPaglia.

This film held my attention to the end, despite being very talky with nearly no action. The look of the film is dark, which matches the overall tone well, but makes it a little hard to see.

IMDb readers say 6.1.

Ebert liked it at 3 stars

I found it worth the watch.

This is a Region 0 (no region code) PAL, and is not available at all in Region 1. You can obtain it by clicking on the image below:

Natalie Portman nude in Goya's Ghosts
Here are the zipped .avi files at Rapidshare. She really is nude, but it's dark and sometimes far from the camera.

Her PR flack reported that the torture scenes were done by a body double but worded it specifically that way, instead of simply saying that all of her nudity was done by a double. The careful wording leads me to believe that some of the nudity is really Portman.

Also, her entire face is in some shots with her body. (See below) It is not unknown to show a body double's face. I can think of two examples: Kate Beckinsale in Haunted and Isabelle Adjani in Diabolique. But I just don't think of Milos Forman as the kind of director who would try to get away with something so sloppy.
